THE 7TH is set in a near future when climate change has taken a grave toll on the planet. Our heroine, Piper, the fourteen-year-old daughter of a climate scientist, discovers a trove of messages from her deceased Lakota mom. She leaves the safety of the technological world and embarks on a treacherous journey to the heart of the Black Hills, where her grandparents have been hiding and protecting an ark of seeds and DNA. This DNA, in the right hands, can restore biodiversity and rewild the planet — but Piper must first survive the journey and outsmart a profit-driven adversary who’s hot on her trail.
